Ammoudi Bay: the perfect Santorini day trip

Need a break from the sand or a day off to heal your sunburn? Let us propose a fantastic day trip to one of Santorini’s cutest landmarks: Ammoudi Bay

How to get to Santorini’s charming fishing port?

To reach this picturesque spot, all you have to do is find the Venetian Fort in Oia, Santorini’s second biggest town, and take the whitewashed stairs down to the port. Be aware that it’s a steep yet walkable hill with approximately 260-280 steps to count. The surface of the staircase can be uneven, therefore, it’s best if you pick a supportive and comfortable pair of shoes even if you are heading for a romantic seafood dinner. Alternatively, you can take a taxi/your own rented car. The short trip will definitely be worth the time and effort once you’re presented with the stunning views down at this quaint traditional fishing port.

What to do in Ammoudi Bay?

The opportunities to spend a lovely summer day at Ammoudi Bay are endless. First of all, the port is always busy with boat tours arriving and departing. You can book a Santorini boat trip in advance with Santorini Yachting Club  to the nearby Santorini volcano or to explore the exciting coastline of the island with various snorkelling spots, hidden coves, and crystal clear waters. If you don’t have that much free time on your hands, check out the neighbouring Agios Nicholas islet which serves as an excellent jumping spot for those who love fun and adventure. However, in case you prefer something more chill and relaxing, take a visit to the Ammoudi thermal springs which are situated only 5 minutes away from the bay.
