The most beautiful beaches in Santorini
There’s something about a beautiful beach that enlivens all your senses: the calming murmur of waves, the briny scent of salt in the air, the gentle nip of sand whipped up by the soft sea breeze. Even if it’s hard to grasp what makes us so happy and calm when stretching out on our beach towels under the sun, one thing is certain though: there is no shortage of stunning beaches in Santorini. Whether your personal beach style is rustic and remote or well-equipped and lively, our curated list offers a peek into some of the best beaches in Santorini.
Red Beach
One can only talk about the world-famous Red Beach in Santorini in superlatives. The towering, carmen cliffs create a striking contrast with the cobalt waters. This spectacular coastline is situated 8 km (4.9 miles) from the capital, Fira and just a stone’s throw away from the Akrotiri Archeological Site. We recommend you grab your snorkelling kit before heading to Red Beach as the crystal clear waters call for some underwater exploration.
White Beach
Santorini’s pristine White Beach beckons tourists from all corners of the world. Since it can be reached only from the waters, it has a more tranquil, relaxed vibe than the previously mentioned Red Beach. The impressive landscape offers a quintessential seaside experience without the crowd. As it is not an organised beach, make sure to have enough water and snacks with you when you visit
Kamari
Beachy shores can come in a rainbow of colors in Santorini, but there’s something especially stark and breathtaking about its jet-black sand. The 5-kilometer-long (3.1 miles) Kamari has earned the reputation of being one of the best black sand beaches in the world not only for the picturesque views but also for the galore of fun activities and watersport opportunities it offers. Having said that, it may not be the best choice for families with small children as the sea deepens quickly.
